My top "rock" albums-- no jazz, blues, or classical as that is like comparing apples and oranges. p.s. Someone please tell me the difference between "best" and "favorite!"

Don Van Vliet's dadaist lyrics, the band's erratic guitars, and wacky song structures keep the album fresh throughout. It's also ironically melancholic at points.

In my mind, this is the pinnacle of SY. Their songwriting is at their best, and the guitarwork is second to none in the genre. Each song transitions into the next very well. I love the bitterly desperate sound experiment at the end of the record. It also made for a good box set with some interesting covers and B-sides.

Don't get me wrong. I love this one, but if I could change a couple things, I would. Morrisey is spot on on this one, Marr is even better. I just have some beefs with it. Perfect with an asterisk.

I know there are a lot of genres of music. "Rap," for example, or "goth," or "proto-new-wave-industrial-necktie-core," etc. If it's not too much, I propose to add a new musical genre: "My Life In The Bush of Ghosts by Brian Eno & David Byrne."

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
