Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Interesting list. Will have to revisit Siamese Dream since I just listened to Mellon Collie. Also, Asylum Party and Alps are two that I know almost nothing about.

Can't argue with the scoring/rating system ~ but, with only 1015 eligible albums out of a possible 200000+, there's a bit of work yet to be done. I'll rate your chart again once you have more than just 7 artists taking up one third of valuable greatest 100 chart space. As for recommendations, perhaps hop across the vast Pacific and tune in to what's been happening in Australia for the past 54 years.

I really like this chart quite a lot. It's definitely a unique one. Maybe not quite my style, but there's some stuff I really enjoy. Foxtrot is one of my all time favorites and I love Townes Van Zandt. In terms of recommendations, have you ever listened to Yes very much? They have some really nice melodic and epic 70's albums.

You should check out some older stuff. Start with something easy, like the Beatles or "Pet Sounds". I can give more specific recs if you want them too
