Guthrie underpins Bob Dylan and the whole singer-songwriter genre. He made folk music important and cool, and gave it social significance and political importance. His influence cannot be over stated, though is often under looked. Some critics enthuse about St Peppers being the first concept album. Nope. This came over 25 years earlier, and is a proper, fully conceived concept, and way more important than the fay incomplete attempt by the Fab Four, as it deals with a significant event - the Dust Bowl droughts in mid-America between 1934 and 1940, and gives the affected people a voice. It is one of the earliest albums of popular music, and was released on six 78rpm discs in two folders or "albums".
