I understand a lot of people hate U2. And I also understand that Bono is much more a politician than a singer as well as Edge is more a sound freak than a traditional guitar player. However, honestly, I don't care. I love U2, from Boy to Horizon, even if with alternate intensity) and still think that Achtung Baby is the perfect album. The message is great (how much media infect our lives, today more than in 1991), the communication is great (Zoo tour shows were a fantastic mix between Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and... U2 !), but most of all, the songs are great. My favourites: "Who's gonna ride your wild horses", "Until the end of the world", "Love is blindness". But, really, all the album is great. I was a Michael Jackson fan before introduction to rock n' roll. Then I've been a Queen fan, a Guns n' Roses, a Nirvana and finally a U2 fan. Through all these temporary lovestories the Beatles and Pink Floyd have always been with me. And then came Radiohead. I was probably too old to become such a devoted fan of the band as I have been for the others. Nevertheless this is the band one could go crazy for. And Ok Computer is in the middle between the powerful grunge affected first two albums (which I love anyway!) and the following experimental rock dismanteling couple of albums. It was also the first album of the band I knew and think that "Paranoid Android" is one of the best songs ever. After some years of delusions (I'm not a big fan of Kid A/Amnesiac) I finally enjoyed the return of "my Radiohead" with both Tom Yorke's album and the fantastic "In Rainbow". However "OK Computer" is still my favourite. [First added to this chart: 04/30/2012]

The right songs at the right time: if I were 20th in the sixties "my Nevermind" would have probably been "Help" or "Sgt. Pepper" while in the 70s "Never mind the bulloks". In the 90s, unless not necessarily THE BEST, it was the perfect album. Quick, powerful, depressed, intense, commercial, deep songs perfect for a drunk night drive surrounded by the city lights or a star lighted sky. It recalls the perfumes of being young, it smells like teen spirit ! [First added to this chart: 04/30/2012]

I bought this album while travelling with my wife and at the time one year old daughter through California. DMB is not well known where I come from, but there are some very big fans, like everywhere. The guitarist of our little band was one of those and opened this new world to me. At first I felt in love with "Typical Situation" and later on discovered the rest: the funky "What would you say", the magic "Satellite", the epic "Ants Marching" and the powerful "Jimi Thing" are some of the best songs ever, really ! In terms of composition DM can be compared to the Beatles, in terms of performance to Zeppelin and Dire Straits. All in a 1990 context. Number one !!! [First added to this chart: 05/02/2012]

As well as Nirvana's Nevermind this album has been the soundtrack of a year of my life, together with the next Oasis album. I was in London for the summer that year and England was going crazy for the Gallaghers really. And I was too. Honestly I didn't hear the similarity with the Beatles back then. Oasis was the new rock n' roll band, modern and traditional at the same time. And cool, very cool. "Live Forever" is my Oasis favourite song, and sadly it will remain the same.
