Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Tamthebam

I love all types of music it doesn't matter to me if the artist is considered "cool" or not. I've been collecting music for over 50 years and these are the albums I've listened to the most. I love to try and listen to everything an artist has recorded. I love music to enhance my moods I like albums that give an atmosphere/a theme, whether that is in Soul/ R n B, country, folk, jazz, indie, rock or "easy listening" or pop music. My favourite decade is the 70's. Its 2024 and I just realised that the majority of my chart is female ! This was not a conscious decision it just happened

From start to finish this is my favourite Beatles album it is one of the best album made in the 60's, one of the best albums of all time and the last album they recorded (Let It Be was released a year later but the tracks for it had already been recorded). They hit an all time peak with this record I doubt they would have been able to better it, even if they had stayed together. Octopus's Garden & Silver Hammer are the only tracks which get less than 90/100. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

To The Limit is a looser collection of songs than her 2 previous albums (Joan Armatrading & Show Some Emotion).Barefoot and Pregnant, Let it Last, Wishing, You Rope You Tie Me, & Bottom To The Top are all brilliant but Baby I and The Letter are top notch Armatrading songs that are the best here. This is my favourite M. Gaye album, over the years I have managed to collect nearly everything he recorded from 1960 onwards. What's Going On is also great but this album flows so smoothly it is all about different aspects of Love & the art of making love. Let's get It On, Keep Gettin' It On, Come Get To This & You Sure Love To Ball are amazing as is the whole album. The Deluxe 2 disc edition is a must for all fans of this album. The first of Stevie's albums under his 2nd Motown contract. His previous album Where I'm Coming From was the first time he had delivered an album to Motown already finished. This was the follow up. This album is much under rated and deserves to be up there with Innervisions and Songs In The Key.... better than Talking Book and just as good as Fullfillingness diverse and more experimental than anything before. The stand out tracks being the first 3 tracks, and Girl Blue, Keep On Running and Seems So Long. [First added to this chart: 12/30/2013]

A really good Radiohead album listened to as a whole it is a relaxing experience as is their album Rainbows. It reminds me of Bjork's Vespertine very similar instrumentation, and otherworldly feel to it. My favourite tracks are the first 3 & Full Stop, Identikit & True Love Waits. Very similar in sound but with more of a darker atmosphere than the previous album Post. The amazing opening tracks prepare you for the voyage of sounds & vocals that follow. Despite its icy feel I find this album a very emotional listen her amazing voice has helped make a classic here. The first 4 tracks are on a different level to anything she or anybody has done before. I also love All is Full Of Love & Immature a track that needs more recognition ! Another great Bowie album from the 70's (1971) this was the album before Ziggy and contains the standards Life On Mars, Changes & Oh You Pretty Things. But the album is more than that it shows Bowie progressing as a singer & songwriter Quicksand & The Bewlay Brothers are brilliant tracks and along with Queen Bitch & Andy Warhol make this a must have album. Genius at work. Lucinda at her best. A great album full of her usual melancholy and vision. Country rock, blues and a track (Awakening) that made me think Neil Young. Not a bad track here, she is just amazing. [First added to this chart: 09/18/2015]

A modern pop/dance record no fillers, JT has a great voice he can sing and these 12 songs demonstrate a more mature RnB influence. The first 6 tracks are absolutely brilliant it does dip a little in the middle but Summer Love & Till the End Of Time pick it up again. Great experimental sounds and a few songs that are as their titles imply 2 songs mixed into one. A great album one of the best albums released in the past 15 years. A real return to form her best album since the 1997 release Velvet Rope. It sounds current and very few "fillers" and none of those annoying 10 sec. interlude tracks ! [First added to this chart: 07/20/2020]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 14% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.5/100, a mean average of 87.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.2.

Seems like a good list to explore when I want to find some new R&B artists and albums. And I too love Stevie Wonder.

Great chart! Love how high you rated David Bowie's "Outside" it's so good! Also fantastic seeing REMs album "Up" it's so underrated. Also multiple Bjork is a plus. Found your chart through Erykah Badu's album "Baduizm" really dig her, really like "Worldwide Underground"
