Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 82.3/100, a mean average of 81.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.9.

Good stuff! Good taste!
Dear jeffrey-hodgson,
Normally when I see a chart like this, chocked full of canonized classic rock bands and little interest in music from other genres or countries, I usually just hold my tongue and leave an average-to-good rating, because you know what? We're all entitled to our own opinion and hey, maybe that's just what you're into. However, for this chart I'm going to make an exception.
Reading the comments on this chart from people like @AvalancheGrips, @raadfactoryxny and @splashfoop I was interested to see what kind of comments you'd left on other people's charts, and I was surprised by just how arrogant, close-minded and dismissive you come across for someone who's own taste is so limited. I don't know what authority you seem to think you have that you feel you can leave comments like "really not very good", "not a fan" and "never heard of most of this" with no other explanation of their low rating, on a site that should be a collaborative and communal expression of our love of music. It is baffling how a grown man (I admit I am making an assumption about your age, and if you are a child then I apologise for being so harsh on someone who is still yet to grow up) can write "Radiohead stinks" on a list that someone has taken the time and effort to share with an internet community.
I should add that none of the above mentioned charts are my own, and I'm not making this comment on my own behalf (though if you feel the need to leave a low rating on my own chart to make yourself feel big, be my guest) but rather because I feel like dismissive behaviour like this is what kills BEA as a site for sharing music tastes.
Please in future consider that no-one is here to claim top-dog status in terms of taste but instead we are all just music lovers and this site is a way for many of us to expand our tastes because we love it so much.
Sincerely,
sidneyfranklyn
Great chart, no girls though? 27 in common with my chart, I'm also not a fan of music past the year 2000.
Unique picks on charts are what make this website so great. To criticize other people's charts for being "different" goes against the nature of the music community, especially when your chart is very basic and old headed.
pretty boring 1 dimensional list. You really should try different roots of music. Your opinion is way too similar with Rolling Stone Mag. This is the obvious taste, and a good start. Try different stuff, harder, weirder stuff.
Thanks for your comment on my chart :(
Great music that's for sure but I agree everything on here is highly rated already. There's tons of good music out there from different genres that you may one day get into.
Extremely one dimensional. your music knowledge is clearly lacking at this point. some great albums featured for sure, but unfortunately this is a typical list for boring old men. I would encourage looking past the radio for music. I'll hold off on a rating until this list is matured.
Can't agree with The Clash and U2 on this list, its a little bit overrated I think, but this chart is good)))
