I may be alone in this, but this album is on here mostly because it reminds me of my college years- fun, communal, rebellious, eagerly adventuring. [First added to this chart: 01/07/2015]

It set off a whole trend in music, a social movement in culture, of fast love and dashing city romance. An addicting listen from beginning to end. [First added to this chart: 01/14/2015]

It sounds drugged out and weird, and I think this one does it more successfully than any other album I've heard. The world wastes away and its ashes are reassembled into a blistering parallel vision. A remarkable relic from the hippie era that perhaps best captures its hidden "agenda." [First added to this chart: 01/14/2015]

A man's personality really shines through this one, with every single, oddly, cover, being so extraordinarily memorable, from the early note-perfect portrayals of "Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam" and "The Man Who Sold the World", to the oddly mismatched Meat Puppets trio chosen purposefully for novelty factor, and especially the aching "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" where you can really hear how Cobain inserts himself and his own emotions into the performance, in a plea for both expression and acclaim. It's sort of just four songs surrounded by some side excursions...yet the construction of these songs is so carefully composed, and the result is accordingly menacing yet cautious, unwilling to slip into parody and steadfast in purpose. The result is just thrilling! [First added to this chart: 01/14/2015]

This is just one of the most fun albums to listen to. I never thought I could really love it in a "top 100" albums sort of way, but the album does genuinely capture some brilliant colors with its synth orchestra, and tells some captivating stories in the midst of its careful examination of the many sides of love, paying tribute to one of its original bards, Hank Williams. Yeah, it's about a guy who gets tired of his wife and wants to leave for some more adventure. So judge the guy. Or don't. Because here's an album that gives an honest account of what so many have gone through: on when you know there's a need for a change, and the world just doesn't understand the new joy you've discovered. Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 4% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.1/100, a mean average of 89.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.0.

I really like to see some love for Hendrix, he seems to be a bit overlooked on this site... but well, that includes me actually.

I love how you aren't entirely skewed towards old or new music on this chart, I find that fairly rare on this site

So much brilliant effort put into this chart!! Your notes are extensive and personal (especially those for Illinois!), and though looking at the first couple of picks I got worried that I'd find things a little too classic-rock orientated, the smattering of jazz and hip hop provided a refreshing change from the rest of your picks. Well done!

Quadrophenia rules! So does Superunknown. Lots of good choices here. Glad to see someone else appreciates There is Nothing Left to Lose.
