Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

If you like Chance the Rapper, Acid Rap is considered his best work. Has maybe 2-3 songs that are ok but really it’s a great mixtape.
Great picks for 100 best album. Van Morrison has to be one of the best voices of all time
Cool chart oh fellow Dylan admirer and appreciator of the 60's/70's! Interesting that post 1975 Dylan doesn't make the grade. Glad to see Carole & Cat make the list - at the time they were groundbreaking artists/albums.
Awesome chart! And, I feel like I have a really similar musical palate to you. Wow. Enjoyed viewing this a lot.

Really swell chart. Full of great songwriters.
Get a feeling you felt more when young, discovering Beatles (and others), and that later, new music, don't reach in all the way? I have had a decade like that. Only read then. Now music grips me again. I guess it's the love for my kids boosting it.
