I'm really struggling to think of 100 albums from the 2010s I actually really enjoyed to the point of putting them in a chart. A real mixed bag, probably more reflective of the fact that I don't tend to listen to much new stuff at the moment, but every now and then I discover a nugget. If I do, I'll add it to this list... PICK - Open Arms; FIRST HEARD: Via Skatterbrain blog. You'd best look no further than Sweden for beautiful jangly twee pop, and whilst there's a fair bit of Scandanavian chaff to wade through before you get to the Hovis (YES! You too can sound like Bogshed!), The Garlands are an example of the cream at the top of this rather beautiful smorgasbord, and if your heart doesn't melt when you hear their self-titled debut LP then you may as well forget any notions you ever had of being twee as fuck.

PICK - Tropic Of Cancer; FIRST HEARD: via Animal Collective fixation. As with Tomboy, I was fortunate enough to see Noah perform the bulk of this album live. Whilst it's a great LP, the emotional impact that Tropic of Cancer had on me given my Mum's battle with the most shitty of diseases was both reassuring and cathartic. A truly great record.

PICK - Kingfisher; FIRST HEARD: ongoing adoration of Miss Newsom. This LP came out about a month before my trip to hospital to address my little meningitis outbreak. It was probably one of the things that got me through it, especially as being stuck in a hospital bed on morphine saw me halluscinate about attending a gig of hers in the ceiling. Odd.

PICK - Borrowed Thyme; FIRST HEARD: via anydecentmusic.com. YES! Schuzzed-up 90s indie-rock dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, so fucking exciting that it made my journey up the A3 from Portsmouth a rather troublesome one, with undertaking cars not to be advised when the police aren't that far behind you. Be warned.
