I'm really struggling to think of 100 albums from the 2010s I actually really enjoyed to the point of putting them in a chart. A real mixed bag, probably more reflective of the fact that I don't tend to listen to much new stuff at the moment, but every now and then I discover a nugget. If I do, I'll add it to this list... PICK - Kingfisher; FIRST HEARD: ongoing adoration of Miss Newsom. This LP came out about a month before my trip to hospital to address my little meningitis outbreak. It was probably one of the things that got me through it, especially as being stuck in a hospital bed on morphine saw me halluscinate about attending a gig of hers in the ceiling. Odd.

PICK - Jail La La; FIRST HEARD: spun by DJ at The Lexington, Islington. Had no idea who this band was until I Shazam-ed it with my trusty iPhone. Garage girl pop par excellence - and it was with a sense of irony that I first saw them live a stone's throw from where my heart first skipped a beat to the sounds of Dee Dee et al.

PICK - Helicopter; FIRST HEARD: bloghopping. I must have listened to this umpteen times and still think that this LP's got so much more to give. True, any album that has a eulogy to the late Jay Reatard was always going to snare me, but Bradford Cox et al are far too prolific for their own good sometimes. Watch it soar once I've waded through all the other stuff they've done...

PICK - Bad Books; FIRST HEARD: "IN THE LIBRARY!!!" (not really - think it was a blog somewhere). The BEST post-punk LP I've heard in ages - London 3-piece decide to roll around in the mudpie the Slits left behind, put on some Raincoats and rub their Chin Chins with some Kleenex. I'm rather proud of that description. It took me a while to think up. Others on request.
