"On the surface a one off album by a rock supergroup but as much as Grohl and Jones bring a lot of weight with them they are in the end nothing more than surrogates for another of Josh Hommme's bastard children. That's not to say there isn't any chemistry, they're clearly having a good time playin..."  [+]  Reply

"In my top 100 above all sorts of classics, blah blah blah. These songs, for the most part, are catchy as chlamydia, and even well written most of the time. There are most certainly better albums out there, but this is as sentimental a favorite as it gets for me. "Of All the Gin Joints in All the ..."  [+]  Reply

"another ultra-catchy album where most songs have choruses to spare. I'll go over the highlights, "use it", "the bleeding heart show", "sing me spanish techno" and "star bodies", first. "use it" musically feels in perpetual, hip flux, offering "heads down thumbs up / two sips from the cup of human..."  [+]  Reply

"Looking to explore deep into The Decemberist’ back catalogue I went into this album completely blind and sweet mother of god! . A Rock Opera! . A god damn Rock Opera. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. The Decemberist’ AMERICAN IDIOT. The verdict? . Yeah it’s pretty good. I agree ..."  [+]  Reply

"Ah, feist of the apple commercial. With "the reminder", she brings "mushaboom" quality to most of the album. i wish she could bring more of her personality to broken social scene, because the playful warmth on "i feel it all", "my moon my man", "sealion" and the aforementioned "1, 2, 3, 4" are in..."  [+]  Reply

"I think these American Recordings series should really be sold as Johnny Cash, by Rick Rubin. As Rubin's influence is what made the difference in Cash's career over the last decade of his life. What a gift that was to the music world. Every one of these is superb. While this one isn't my personal..."  [+]  Reply

"This album is proof of Darnielle's lyrical talent. With extremely poor sound quality, simple song structures, a voice that won't appeal to all and a mess of a concept, the album still stands up as completely amazing due almost entirely in part to the lyrics. Personal thought only, but with the in..."  [+]  Reply

"The arrangements are well thought out, particularly the duel guitars, and the production is a great example of analogue done right, warm while still retaining clarity and separation. Death Cab are a much better band than people give them credit for and this is their most consistent and varied album."  Reply
