Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Not bad. Some strong choices here and there (love Marquee Moon at the end and the Stones at the beginning). However, it's very heavy on classic rock and does not feature many personal/unusual/surprising entries. Keep listening to music you don't know, it'll get better and better ;-)

Thanks for the advise, I will defiantly check out those lists and yeah I've been listening to the wall a lot recently, seems like a really consistently good album and would love to see the film some time.

I see you have Leftover Crack on your list, have you given Choking Victim - No Gods/No Manager a listen? If you haven't I recommend it. They are actually LC before they changed their band name.

A bit strong on the classics, look around some of the top-rated charts for unusual music and always open your ears up to new genres & styles of music you may find more appealing.
