Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 68.3/100, a mean average of 62.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 62.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 24.4.

The problem with your list isn't that you've opted to go with harder metal and punk choices, it's sadly that I don't feel these are particularly good ones (with a few exceptions).

Your taste differs from mine, but I would never say you're wrong because many people don't agree with you. The appeal to popularity is a highly-flawed logical fallacy used by bandwagon jumpers who can't think for themselves. 100 rating for saying that "50 million Elvis fans CAN be wrong."

Thanks. Well, I guess I have pop sensibilities. Or rather an ear for melody. Nobody made great 4 minute songs like MJ in my opinion.
