Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by

Work in progress. Over the course of time some albums may change places (sometimes drastically if I suddenly listen again to an album and suddenly appreciate it more), some may get deleted (especially those at the very bottom) making new albums appear.
Also, this chart has become an absolute mess. I really want to reorganize this when I have the courage. Mainly, the latter half of it is fucked up in so many ways. The first 50 though are more or less in their right place.
To add: a brief explanation of my love for each album
No rules about repeating artists and that kind of stuff.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is extremely outdated, but thanks anyway. Whenever I have time I'll completely update it. Maybe after 2018.
Awesome chart, nicely balanced between the decades which is always cool to see. Keep up the good work :)
One of my favorite charts here. When you have The Cure, Sufjan, The war on Drugs, Arcade fire, Sigur Ros in your chart you cannot go wrong

Such a great selection. I can never argue with Disintegration! Some lovely jazz picks as well. Glad to see that your list appreciates Charles Mingus as much as I do.
The Cure! under-represented on this site, wish I could find room for them on my own chart
