Here we find the records that offer something great before you even press play on them.
To make this chart, I considered a few things including the photography/imagry and color pallet that appeals to me the most, how well each cover helped convey the story of the music held inside, and simply which covers were too iconic to ignore.
Like my main charts, this one will always be a fun work in progress. Feel free to shoutout some recommendations in the comments!

You know an album and its cover are Super Tier when The Onion writes an article about how all other art from here on can eat shit.
The blue used here is one of my favorite colors and it allows for the little bit of green to absolutely pop. Oh and it makes the Megadeth logo actually look good (its color looks great against the blue also).
Let’s not forget how it’s a perfect cover to convey the sci-fi themes and technical playing scattered through the album. This is a long time favorite, both the album and its fantastic cover. [First added to this chart: 11/15/2021]

One of the few examples on this chart of a record reaching merit based off of, frankly, how repugnant and actively unpleasant I find the cover to be.
Tilt’s artwork crosses a certain threshold that makes me look at this cover with curiosity just as, perhaps Walker himself may want, the listener finds themselves viewing the music on this album: traditionally “ugly”, challenging, puzzling, and so, so dark.
