If this is dad rock I'd love to know what the kids are producing these days. A stunning piece of alt-country, every note on this album is perfect, especially on Nels Cline's impeccable solo in Impossible Germany (that man can play!).

A beautiful tapestry of patchwork sounds woven together. Part of Stephen Malkmus’ genius is his ability to make songs that sound as though they have been pulled from the ether, wonderful fragile creations that seem to disappear back into thin air as quickly as they came. This album sounds like it could fall apart at any time but leaves you stunned, wondering what just happened and wanting to listen to it again.

The paradoxical sound of a creative partnership reaching its peak while the relationship unravels. This album has the urgency of a band set to self-destruct as soon as they stop playing. Here the band dial back the noise so that it sounds cathartic rather than self-indulgent and let the tunes speak for themselves, leaving behind a polished gem of noise-pop tunes.

This album has the anxious energy of a man running on auto-pilot, driving Bowie out of his comfort-zone (an already pretty far-fetched place) and resulting in a collection of songs that vary wildly in both quality and style. There’s just something about this album that I like and I can’t put my finger on it. My favourite Bowie album!

The standout jewel in Radiohead's catalog for me. This album pulls together all of the elements that make Radiohead great. From the loud guitars of Bodysnatchers and the soothing tones of Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, to the disjointed acoustic guitar of Faust Arp.

Highlights: Really all of this album is a highlight but Nude, Reckoner, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi stand out for me
