Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Único! Vou conferir v´rias coisas desse chart. Tem algumas preciosidades raras que estão no meu tb. Alguns do mesmo artista, não exatamente o mesmo album.
Impressive chart, even without any notes. A lot of variety, and a number of choices that are both similar to my own and not seen consistently on this site. ‘Engine’ (not on my list but very welcome as it is their best album I think, ‘Third Ear Band’ and ‘Down Colorful Hill’ are especially welcome, and there are some others I need to give more attention to. Although I do not agree with everything on this list, “ForegroundNoise” has put it extremely well.

So eclectic and yet you convey a personality so distinctly. Love the variety of picks here - with some notes added this would easily be one of my favourite charts on this site.
