Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by gon2bed

I would say 90% of these albums I love every song. There are 53 different artists including my favourite bands such as: Radiohead, Massive Attack, Muse, Placebo, QOTSA and Editors. So it will have all of the albums by some artists, as I do listen to them so much. I've tried to list them but it's so hard, the Top 2 are probably the only two I think are certain.

For me Radiohead is the best band, they have everything I want in music and are also a great model on how a band should construct themselves. They have a great discography and there's no music that means more to me than this band.

With Massive Attack, their albums are always some of the first I take with me when travelling and not to mention great to relax to at home. Some might consider this a Robert Del Naja album, but for me I couldn't tell as it still had that quality from past albums.

Some very dreamy songs and beautiful singing, I think Sinead O' Conner sings on a few songs and she suits the sound greatly.

Top quality debut, not my usual type of music as I'm not into rap really but Massive Attack are a huge exception. [First added to this chart: 01/05/2015]

I listen to this album a lot when travelling. Always one of the first albums I will take with me. If it wasn't for Flat Of The Blade and Saturday Come Slow this album would be higher as the rest I really love. Luckily they are right at the end so it doesn't matter so much.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 79.6/100, a mean average of 76.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 21.5.

Well done for putting your favourite albums at the top and not trying to compile a 'designed by committee' chart distorted by the requirements of diversity.

Some real classics in this chart. I was a little put off by so much Radiohead at the top of the chart but at the end of the day, if those are your top albums, then that's your top albums.

Lol I just thought it was odd that you seemed to systematically go through a ton of pop and rap albums and rate them really low, a bit sad really. I'm rating it zero because it's just awful when you slap classic, superb albums with a 5/100 or 10/100. You can't be a music lover if Beatles/Floyd albums are that bad to you. I appreciate that we have different tastes but come on man, hardly any albums are really as low as 15/100 or so.
Also, no need to get aggressive, it's only a music site.

I love when charts are this personal, and there are five Radiohead albums at the top. This is super cool.

I feel you man. Maybe try going for 2 per artist or something like that and just add other albums in description or somethin, your chart is really nice and you seem so devoted to music, but I just can't like the chart if it repeats itself. But ofc, the first and the most important thing is staying true to yourself, my opinion doesn't matter. I found (I hope) some balance in my chart after years of trying, hope you can do that too if you want. Sorry for the late reply

@Ledzep I can't help the feelings, how much I love an album, not going to lie to please others. There's a reason a good 5 or 6 bands on this list have a lot of their albums or even all and that's because they are my favourite bands and honestly love their albums that much. Most of my albums in the top ten are well rated so it should be no shock they are there.

Not sure what rating to give you. I don't wanna dismiss your chart just because of top 5, there are really some fantastic albums beyond Radiohead. And you know I have the same problem of rating Floyd, Bowie, Iron Maiden and some other bands, but just for diversity I didn't want to fill the top 30 with 6 or 7 same artists. Makes the chart all the more accessible while still representing my taste well. You have that problem with only one band, but I suggest you to try and do the same.
