Comments will be added in Lockdown 2026!
Will eventually make this a custom chart and will make it one artist per chart, to reduce the amount of Belle & Sebastian, Radiohead and Nick Cave!

Yes, this 1969 album is intentionally a more commercial sound than the brilliant, Nico assisted, 1967 effort. Yes, as a body of art it is inferior. Yes, it’s not technically as good. But, as much I love Velvet Underground & Nico, I prefer the highs of this 1969 album and there are no lows.

I like a good Isaac Hayes monologue. But 8:40 of, admittedly smooth Hayes musings on the final track (‘By The Time I Get To Phoenix’) is too much even for me. It’s 20% of the album. Without it this could have been my favourite album of all time and it is still right up there.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 6% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.4/100, a mean average of 89.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.4.

Just my opinion, for what it’s worth, but I’d encourage you not to make this a custom chart. It’s one of the best overall charts on the site and having, for example, 5 albums by nick and the band in your chart just reflects how great they have been over a long career.
How do you rate songs on a scale of one hundred? Like what are your criteria?

Rating every single song in comments as a review is annoying, bro.
Bot type sh*t.
Can you stop putting your rating song after song on every album you get to impose your opinion? Limit yourself to a qualitative opinion.

Great to see a fellow Nick Cave fan
Absolutely adore this chart. Just a suggestion but I think that you should leave the chart as it is rather than one entry per artist. If this is your top 100 albums ever, I'd keep it at that.
Great Chart. Love the forensic level of rating.
Pink Floyd????

Great chart, maybe leans a little too heavily into certain artists but hey, that's cool. They're certainly artists that I love, particularly B&S.

I apparently need to fully get into and appreciate Belle and Sebastian. Good chart!
