Defining Track - Rebellion (Lies)

I love this album, 'Rebellion (Lies)' is my favourite Arcade Fire song, narrowly edging 'Wake Up' which is also on 'Funeral'. Arcade Fire's debut generally has depressing and sad lyrics as you would imagine from the album title 'Funeral' but combined with the music, the tracks really do become beautiful. Despite the down heartening general theme to 'Funeral' I believe that the album is uplifting in many areas (like Wake Up), the album really is a masterpiece.

Defining Track - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

- 'The Queen Is Dead' is beautifully sad at times (I Know It's Over), yet it can also be uplifting to an extent in 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' for example. The topic of death frequently appears in the album, (Including tracks, 'The Queen Is Dead', 'I Know It's Over', 'Cemetry Gates', 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' and of course 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out'). This perhaps shows Morrissey's suicidal state of mind while writing the album, which makes it even more intriguing.

Defining Track - Last Nite

'Is This It?' reminds me a bit of Oasis's debut with the energy in the album, but the Strokes add their own touch. 'Last Nite' is one of my favourite songs of all time.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 10% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.8/100, a mean average of 87.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.8.

Pretty good on the alternative rock, some obvious personal preferences like The Libertines & The Smiths. Some of the more recent albums are okay, and I think it could benefit from a few more albums outside your comfort genre.
