Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by HotZappsBoogaloo
I've been doing a TON of listening the past few years while working at one of the largest record stores in the states. There are lots of new additions on here, and a lot of shifting. There will definitely be more variety shown once I start creating my decades and years charts, but this is a pretty dang solid representation of my taste right now. This site has also been a great tool for finding new music because of the fantastic users on here. Thank you!

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.4/100, a mean average of 90.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.9.

I kinda disagree that this chart is unnecessarily predictable, anyone who's expressing an appreciation of really underrated artists like Lee Hazlewood and Bobb Trimble can get away with throwing in a white stripes album by my books.
I think maybe the reason people might respond with apprehension is that within the first few pages of this chart you don't get to many of the really cool recommendations that come later, and I suppose from an experiential point you'd find people responding better even by simply rearranging the esoteric and the known to be more interstice.
Either way this is a cool chart, I'd love to see you write some notes for your entries as that's what really pushes beyond the 90/100 for me personally, especially why Millennium are in the top 10 or perhaps why working at a record store and encountering music that way engenders a super 60s weighted chart.
I have mixed emotions about this chart. On the debit side, there is a fair bit that is predictable but whose merits I have never grasped, like Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, Jeff Buckley, the Smashing Pumpkins and the White Stripes, along with to a smaller extent the Velvets, the Who and Neil Young. On the other hand there is also a number of exceptional artists and albums, and many genuine surprises like Gong, Camel, Ultimate Spinach, Fifty Foot Hose, Lee Hazelwood, Wipers and to a lesser extent the Residents.

phantastic chart.
Haha sorry for the silly comment originally. Your chart is great! I should get around to listening to the Oh Sees some more. They're a really awesome band.
Like it, except for Radiohead
24 artist and 17 albums in common!
