"Nothing innovative or surprising here, but that's not always a bad thing. This is just some straightforward blues rock with some catchy tracks using hooks recycled from classics acts two decades prior. With that said, if the Stones made this album in the early 70's it would probably be considered..."  [+]  Reply

"If no their best, certainly Slayer's most representative work. War Ensemble is as furious as anything on Reign in Blood, while Dead Skin Mask and Expendable Youth showcase more of the toned down style featured on south of Heaven. A must have for serious metal fans."  Reply

"In many ways, this album is better than "faith". Where "faith" was more immediately-grabbing, "vol.1" is more complex and emotionally/musically layered. His covers (including a b-side elton cover) nail those songs' sentiment. G.Michael attempts to show us there's more than a tight @ss behind his ..."  [+]  Reply

"I always had trouble with the album falling short of breath quite early on. Until I discovered the actual track sequence Paul Simon had in mind for this (which, when considering the actual sequence on the album as produced is 3-6-4-7-8-1-2-9-5-10). I tried it and only then discovered the masterpi..."  [+]  Reply

"The greatest pop album of all time, kicked off with the greatest pop song of all time, the sublime "Being Boring". "The Must be the Place" and "My October Symphony" are the other two all time classics, but every track is a winner on this autumnal masterpiece, except perhaps "How Can You Expect" w..."  [+]  Reply

"One of my favourite albums of all time. This 19 song epic has grown better with time, it is now considered their best (Steve McQueen a close 2nd). The stand out tracks being Lookin For Atlantis, We Let The Stars Go, Wild Hoses, Doo Wop In Harlem & Carnival 2000. Hear how Paddy McAloon's lyrics/so..."  [+]  Reply
