Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

Honestly, I don't like making "all time" albums charts. I don't like the idea of putting records that belong to very different universes, like The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady and Modern Vampires of the City on side with each other. The concept of popular music today is not the same as it was 50 years ago. Things change, you see?
Regretably BEA doesn't allow me to post decade or year lists until I get to level 5, and I don't know how long that will take, so...
Note: Naturally, I'm not including classical releases.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Some excellent records on here, plus some ideas for new stuff for me to explore! Personal bonus points for the emphasis on early R.E.M. and for the Regina Spektor inclusion.

This is an absolute gem of a chart. 22 albums/27 artists in common so plenty we agree with, a few albums I love but didn't quite make the charts, albums I've never heard of and will have to check out, and a few surprising picks as well. Variety of genre and nationality as well, and I also like how after the top 10 your picks aren't necessarily the artist's consensus "best."

good picks! it would be cool to have some analysis for why you grade each album as such. especially with unconventional picks like magical mystery tour in the top 10

It's very weird to find someone that likes Wilco so much to put it in his top 10. Very good chart (except for the Beatles, IMO).

I also think that listing Jazz or Classical music with popular music is unfair.
