Top 50 Greatest Music Albums

This is a cool site, but I would never be so presumptuous as to claim I know what the 50 "Greatest" albums are. These are my 50 "Favorite" albums. I realize very few people would list Help! as the Beatles "Greatest album". But in 40 plus years of listening to the Beatles, Help! is my favorite. Its impossible for me to nail down a rank for a lot of these albums. I can�t really say for instance that Labour of Lust at 30 is 20 albums better than Rough Mix at 50. I love Rough Mix, and on a particular day I might think it�s the best of all. I have been a music fan since I was a pre teen and have always had a sizeable music collection. I currently own 1500 or so CDs, and about 150 albums, and still have almost 100 cassettes. So this is what I came up with. It was a fun exercise, but a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I left a lot of really great records off the list. Disclaimer. This list is subject to change at any time based on how I feel that particular day and what I have been listening to. Albums can be added, removed, and moved up and down the list for no particular reason.

Great preface note. Nobody knows what the greatest albums are. That's the joy of music. That's why I love this site. You get to see what other's musical tastes and preferences are. It's a wondrous discovery ground.

Ana amazing list of classics! Lola in the top 10 is surprising not but something I would argue. Great to see The new York Dolls in there as well. fabulous. Look forward to your next 50.

I really like that Graham Parker album, also "Heat Treatment".I think that that was the album just before this one.

Thanks for making me feel old 8-). But I am what I am. Thank you for the Band of Gypsys correction. I was wondering why that had not been added by anyone. I seem to be the first to add a Dave Edmunds album. Thats a shame, but maybe by me including him here some folks will give him a listen. They will be very impressed. Still working on this list. Its by no means complete.
