Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 84.6/100, a mean average of 84.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.7.

Lots of 60s and 70s quality... You'll disagree, but I think you overrate Yes.

Few albums I never heard before: this is the type of chart I like most so I'd discover something new (for me)... I never listened to Ten Years After before and they're brilliant. Thanks.

"Close to the Edge" was one of my favorite albums in high school, I haven't listened to it in a long time but still, it was such a great prog rock album, I think that it is their best.

Great chart... Some of the best Prog Rock albums and many classic Rock albums are charted here. Maybe you have already heard them and you dont consider them good enough to make your top 50, but if you still havent listened to any of them, I strongly recommend you 3 albums: Animals by Pink Floyd, maybe the strongest effort by David Gilmour; Born to Run by Bruce Sprinsgteen, Bruce trying to be Bob Dylan (which of course is great); and Ramones by the Ramones, one of the best Punk Rock albums ever made.

not seeing the punk in my chart unless your talking about the stooges? a bit of a stretch but...ok. yeah i like a lot of the albums on your chart...a lot of good classic rock stuff. i just got burnt out on classic rock when i was a kid. i love zeppelin, pink floyd, the beatles etc. but only return to those albums when im feeling a bit nostalgic. well...maybe not so much the beatles. i listen to them fairly regular. :)
