Top 56 Music Albums of the 2000s by manurock

So, as I said on my overall, I started listening to music at the 2000's so there were too many 2000's albums. Some have been deleted and they now find their place here, as well as other albums which didn't make it at the first place but I still like.

I find the 2000's a good decade to music as many british bands took the early Radiohead torch, both on the post-britpop side (i.e Coldplay) and on the alternative rock side (i.e Muse). Also, we have a prog rock revival plus prog metal maturing (i.e Steven Wilson and his acts), indie rock reaching the mainstream, and many etc's.

Comments from my top 100 are copy-pasted into here. I will try to comment the rest two, albeit briefly.

When you get to a decade chart I guess it's harder to reach to everyone, plus there are so many albums I have yet to listen that I am sure this isn't the best decade chart, but as I said it helps me save this albums and also understand this decade better so here they are. Enjoy! Any feedback is welcome.

This album introduced me to Muse and I still consider it to be their best. As I said with Riverside, none of their other albums is so aggressive and at the same time so progressive as this one. The keyboards are the strong point of this album (i.e new born, bliss, space dementia...) in comparison to the other albums and we can find Bellamy's falsetto voice and guitar riffs in a few songs too (i.e plug in baby, citizen erased, darkshines...). It's hard to choose the best tracks, all are worth listening to, and each one has something of its own to contribute to the album. [First added to this chart: 08/09/2018]

Steven Wilson's solo work and bands like PT and Blackfield are worth listening to. His best work is this album, in which you can find long but not boring progressive rock songs, with a few prog metal riffs. All songs have something different, unheard before, and the lyrics show the despair of a boy damaged by society. The last part of "Anesthesize" is the most beautiful music I have heard from the last 20 years [First added to this chart: 08/09/2018]

After their promissing debut, Coldplay became even more famous with this alt. rock album which, to date, is my favourite by this band. The piano and Martin's voice, as well as the other instruments, convey a sense of loss and epicness. My favourites are "Politik" and "The Scientist". One of the great albums of the last decade, and miles away from their last two albums. [First added to this chart: 08/09/2018]

Can you make a good pop/rock album based on with piano and keyboards with no guitars? Keane answered "Yes" with this album, especially with songs like "Somewhere only we know" or "Bedshaped" and gave popularity to the Piano Rock genre. It may not be the most varied and complex album, but it has a sound of their own which is nice to my ears; that's more than most pop albums aimed at the general public. Their second album tries to progress on the same base, and is ok to listen, but doesn't have any anthems (except for the experimental "Atlantic") like this one has, while the third includes more instruments and has some catchy tracks. Elbow's albums contain the hooks of indie rock and the ellaboration of prog rock. Of their albums I have listened, this Mercury prize winner does so in the best way so far. The piano and keyboards are great and the vocals are different from the typical band. Hard to find best tracks; probably I would choose the catchy "Grounds for divorce", the sad "Loneliness..." and the elaborate "Starlings". [First added to this chart: 08/09/2018]

Great album by Muse. Nearly as solid as their 2001 and 2003 albums, you can find some of their all-time best tracks in here: the first two (Uprising and Resistance) and the last three (Exogenesis symphonies) are top class. In this album, the classical music is as its best and, though some of their middle tracks have got some odd parts which don't fit well (ie. the Queen inspirated part of Eurasia is terrible), you can still find some interesting compositions. In short, this album shouldn't be ignored by any Muse fan and is the best work by them in their second 10 years of their existence. [First added to this chart: 08/09/2018]

This album has been a grower for me. In Absentia is also quite good, with great songs like "Trains" or ".3". It could also be on bottom half of my top albums, but for me it is similar to (maybe a little worse) than this album and I prefer tracks from over here like "Arriving Somewhere....", "The Start of Something Beautiful" and "Mellotron Scratch" [First added to this chart: 08/09/2018]

Great album, showing the band was on its musical peak. Continues the trip started in the grandiouse "Origin of Symmetry" and flows quite well. My favourite track is the closing piano crescendo song "Ruled by Secrecy" (surprisingly underrated over here), and I also love some rocking tracks like "Butterflies & Hurricanes" or "Stockholm Syndrome". This was the first album I listened from Stewart and it made me appreciate some great rock classics which had been forgotten on the radios till this album appeared: Still the same, Have you ever seen the rain, Father&Son... great classics. It decays a little towards the end though. [First added to this chart: 08/09/2018]

Nice blend of trip hop and prog rock in a flowing concept album which lasts more than 1 hour but is still able to keep my attention all throughout. [First added to this chart: 11/09/2022]
