"John Darnielle of the mountain goats is the preacher before the dawn, telling intricate, interesting tales of characters giving abandon to hope and hope to hopelessness. As he said in a recent interview (paraphrased), his characters are like a good friend who's also a chronic liar. "The Sunset Tr..."  [+]  Reply

"The strongest crop of songs he's made since the Smiths ended, the singles Irish Blood, English Heart and First of the Gang to Die are two of my favourite indie rock songs of all time and there are also some great deep cuts on here too"  Reply

"The return of Bruce Dickinson after an eight year break. Brave new world, is easily Iron Maiden's best album since, seventh son. It's epic and ambitious but it doesn't feel overlong or overblown. It doesn't quite have any classic metal anthems that Maiden used to write, in fact it's more proggy t..."  [+]  Reply

"What a cracking album....I have purposefully waited to comment as it's a unique sounding album and didn't want to judge after just a listen or two. Good quality indie rock which makes me feel similarly to hearing In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - not really having heard anything quite like it befor..."  [+]  Reply

"I almost don’t want to give it a high rating, because it might change the 69/100 rating. This is the type of pop album that makes rock purists say “I want to hate this, but it is just so good”. If you can do that, you’ve made a fucking stellar album."  Reply

"This album is one ugly beast. I hated it when I first heard it. It's a heck of a lot darker than anything else The Flaming Lips have put out, but they pull it off SO WELL! Very krautrock/noise-rock influenced. It's also surprisingly their funniest lyrically."  Reply
