"One of the first albums I heard when I started to listen to music differently and re-evaluated my taste. I mean the singles Kids, Electric Feel, and Time to Pretend were jarring. Poppy, yet incorporating sounds of the distant past to create a sound I couldn't deny. My only qualm with this band, a..."  [+]  Reply

"This album sounds like it was made by a irrational, childish girl on her first period after breaking up with her fiance. And It is fucking awesome. This is the only non-African album I can think of that's completely hellbent on percussion besides Reich's Drumming. Almost every chorus has a built ..."  [+]  Reply

"Ground breaking, time defining music. Not only did it help launch the "Bristol scene" (Portishead, Tricky, etc) but it actually shaped it. If you are interested in the history of music, you should definitely own a copy of this album."  Reply

"My favorite Metallica album, love the structure of the songs and they don't seem to long to me. I would agree with others about the production. The bass is virtually absent here and who knows why. The lyrics are very interesting as there are songs about political corruption, discrimination, alien..."  [+]  Reply

"I concur with a few of the comments below here that while great, Stankonia is too long. It gets a little draggy by the end, but at least there are some progressive, genre-bending songs towards the end and scattered throughout. Regardless of the listener fatigue that may incur, each track at least..."  [+]  Reply

"F A N T A S T I C . flat out one of my favorite albums of all time. The production and songwriting is so good on this - they spend more than 1000 hours recording this pearl"  Reply

"Yes, Elvis wasn't an songwriter, and he took what the black artists were already doing and gave it a nice safe white face. But there's no questioning the influence of this album. Simply massive."  Reply

"Yeah this album was inescapable sometime around '06-'07, and it's not hard to see why. In a time when so many bands were taking the previously more direct routes of emotive popish-y-punk songs, this album was so self-consciously grandstanding and BOMBASTIC (do you want me to repeat that last word..."  [+]  Reply

"Maybe "Sea Change" connected with me at the perfect time or not, but this is one of the best albums about loss, helplessness, and trying to move on, but being not truly able to move forward yet. Over years of weekly listening, I've found that once you move past Beck's own story about the creation..."  [+]  Reply
