Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Really, really great, love seeing Closer up there
Wow! we share the same no1 and the only other chart ive ever seen Music of the Spheres in. Also Electronic in there as well, love it. Not a fan of Bowie but other than that this is great.

For me it hits and misses (through my own personal taste, rather than quality of the albums) but I think your top 10 is pretty darn solid. Good chart! :)
