Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by alexgagne

I have a strong passion for alternative rock, post-hardcore, post-punk, jazz and almost every derivatives.

Like many music aficionado, I have a tendency to overweight albums from my generation (2000s+) on an overall chart. After reviewing my list many times, every album from the 2000s that appear on my chart has a special significance and they deserve their places.

I would appreciate any comments, suggestions and/or insults.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.8/100, a mean average of 91.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.8/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.4.

One of the things I look for in a chart is a strong placing for songs I’ve not heard - and you’ve sure got that. I’m sure I will love an album or two thanks to you!

Just shy of the 100 rating as The Stone Roses pre-date Britpop by a few years.

Nice to see James Brown, Violent Femmes and At-the Drive In on this list, otherwise its not simple and that's very cool.
Its hard to see Queen at the end positions of this chart, but its ok when you see King Crimson on the top positions)
Nice Chart!
