Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Tamthebam

I love all types of music it doesn't matter to me if the artist is considered "cool" or not. I've been collecting music for over 50 years and these are the albums I've listened to the most. I love to try and listen to everything an artist has recorded. I love music to enhance my moods I like albums that give an atmosphere/a theme, whether that is in Soul/ R n B, country, folk, jazz, indie, rock or "easy listening" or pop music. My favourite decade is the 70's. Its 2024 and I just realised that the majority of my chart is female ! This was not a conscious decision it just happened

Tusk the follow up to Rumours was a double album a 20 track bonanza - 9 tracks by Lindsey Buckingham, 6 by Christine McVie and 5 by Stevie Nicks. It was an expensive album to make and for the fan an expensive purchase. It was ahead of it's time musically and this was due to the time and effort put into the overall sound by Buckingham. It is mostly his album. It has stood the test of time and overall it is second only to Rumours in their vast catalogue. [First added to this chart: 07/12/2015]

I first heard this album in 1977 and I still listen to it today, its a Richard Perry produced album, and it has become a fan favourite all 10 tracks are good and Diana Ross sounds so soulful. Released just as Disco was happening so it contains a couple of dance tracks but mostly its a soul/RnB masterpiece. [First added to this chart: 08/18/2013]

The title says it all ! A great blues album Nina at her best. Standout tracks are "A little sugar ....." "Do I Move You" "In The Dark " "Since I Fell For You " and "Blues For Mama" but to top all of those is the amazing "My Mans Gone Now ". A brilliant album. [First added to this chart: 08/02/2012]

Al Jarreau's most accessible album along with his previous album Breakin' Away which are not as rooted in Jazz as his past work this album has a more soul/RnB sound with a jazz leanings. Mornin' is an amazing opener and along with Trouble In Paradise, Black & Blues & Boogie Down lift this album above his more jazz sounding albums. Having said that the best track on the album is a jazz number I Will Be Here for You. [First added to this chart: 07/28/2012]

Amazing live album the "2nd & 3rd Acts" are brilliant Act II expands the story behind the Ninth Wave and improves on the original! She sounds good her voice has grown deeper so there is nothing here from her first 4 albums but the versions of Top Of the City & Neve Be Mine have been improved upon, and the cheer that erupts during the first few bars of Running Up That Hill is spine tingling. This is a great Stones record not a single weak track Sympathy, Jigsaw, Salt of the Earth and Street Fighting Man stand out from the rest but the other mostly acoustic numbers make the album a relaxing listen and a smooth ride. The sound quality on the new vinyl edition is amazing. This is now my 3rd favourite Stones album. [First added to this chart: 02/23/2016]

An overlooked great album by Bolan better than *The Slider" and lies 2nd to Electric Warrior for consistency . None of the tracks were released as singles an unusual event back then. Overall the album holds together as a complete unit with Bolan introducing a more soulful sound. Stand out tracks are Madonna, Born To Boogie, Street and Babe Shadow & Broken Hearted Blues. Another overlooked album would follow this - Zinc Alloy..... [First added to this chart: 08/18/2013]

A great album, not as highly regarded as a lot of his 70's albums but it it is for me his 2nd best album behind Yellow Brick Road, (Captain Fantastic a close 3rd). The Bitch Is Back is a great opener followed by the beautiful track Pinky it also contains the original and best version of Don't Let The Sun..... and an amazing closing track "Ticking". Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 17% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.4/100, a mean average of 87.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.2.

Seems like a good list to explore when I want to find some new R&B artists and albums. And I too love Stevie Wonder.

Great chart! Love how high you rated David Bowie's "Outside" it's so good! Also fantastic seeing REMs album "Up" it's so underrated. Also multiple Bjork is a plus. Found your chart through Erykah Badu's album "Baduizm" really dig her, really like "Worldwide Underground"
