"Only just good hard rock/glam metal album. Best 10 songs average is 77,7/100 and the album can get good 80/100. Sound is very good - but vocals take MUCH getting used to. "I think that this was one of the definitive albums of the 00's. Jet's "Get Born" was possibly one of the safest Rock 'n Roll phenomenon's of all time. I mean, c'mon, what's safer than an Australian ACDC/Iggy Pop/Supremes hybrid ? I prefer it to any album that The White Stripes, The Strokes, The V..."" I think that this was one of the definitive albums of the 00's. Jet's "Get Born" was possibly one of the safest Rock 'n Roll phenomenon's of all time. I mean, c'mon, what's safer than an Australian ACDC/Iggy Pop/Supremes hybrid ? I prefer it to any album that The White Stripes, The Strokes, The Vines, or The Hives have come up with. If I were to make a generic 00's time capsule & I could only throw in 5 albums, this would be one that I'd include. I think that "Get Born" will age well. Take it out in 10 years & see."  [+]  Reply

Nujabes is one of the producers who has most influenced the rap scene in the 2000s. All these albums are excellents but my favorite remains "Metaphorical Music". "Metaphorical music", that's what I call the perfect album. From start to finish, the disc is a wonderful relaxing journey. Nujabes' approach to creating rhythms is truly impressive. Traditional hip-hop, imbued with colorful jazz, is what makes me dream the most. The sound of Nujabes is sweet, melancholy and extraordinarily beautiful. The way the piano melody flows with a simple but captivating boom beat, is suspended in the background in songs like "Blessing It" and "Kumomi". How the rhythmic and manic passages of the Horn in the Middle drum blend into this iconic chorus of the trumpet. The way the so-called trumpet chorus is followed by a small piano chorus. It's too engaging and hypnotic. The guitar loop on "Lady Brown" and the Low Key synth pattern on "Highs 2 Lows". The tracks are as natural as a wave caressing your feet or a summer breeze beautifies your cheeks. One of the most relaxing albums of all time. 10/10 Best track: "Lady Brown""  [+]  Reply

The title track kicks off proclaiming "The sound of God is the screech of tires, lights and magnets, bolts and wires, strayed from the road" with a chorus that states god is "streaming out of the magnets". Then next song: "So can you te...""Each song sounds like 2-to-3-or-more choruses are packed in. The title track kicks off proclaiming "The sound of God is the screech of tires, lights and magnets, bolts and wires, strayed from the road" with a chorus that states god is "streaming out of the magnets". Then next song: "So can you tell me why in every version of the events shown here, there's another season that crawls by like years, from blown speakers clear? It came out magical." But the party truly starts with track #3, "the laws have changed", immersing one of the chorus's neko glory throughout especially when she's ready to "form a line". Then there's the neko-helmed "all for swinging you around" ("We're twisting incognito with no time, can't talk, can't tell / if this is fantasy or culture shock") -- makes me want to be swung around by neko. Both of those songs are pure indie pop gold. "Chump change" is retro-groovy with its "ooh oohs". When this group nails it, they nail it -- like on "it's only divine right" and its "come true" neko-laced chorus and guitar-interjections. Often their choruses are one-word lyrics, but it's so damn catchy you almost don't notice, like with "july jones" sporting "One of the greats, on the way, hold on." (w/neko!) chorus before the other "Behind the daylight, who knew what it could feel like? " chorus, not to mention the seducing "ooh la la"'s. Or on closer "miss teen wordpower", with AC & (a belting) Neko weaving "because nobody knows the wreck of the soul the way you do" and the song title into chorus before spinning into the third chorus "So we float through the streets, breathe city lights, claims of the crown forgotten". This is the pop that should be all over the radio."  [+]  Reply
