Top 28 Greatest Music Albums by knels94

NOTE: 1) I am currently limited to 50 on this chart
2) I tried to limit this to mostly only albums I own (which at the moment isn't a ton)
3) I decided to add my own little bit to the chart. The rankings AREN'T necessarily in order of albums I think are BEST, but favorites, a lot of rankings are based on sentimental value, memories associated with the album, things the music has gotten me through. I do this not as a "cop out" but to add a personal touch to my chart and because I think that is a strong part of music, the memories tied to it and listening to it to remember those times.
4) I am new to the site and I am just now starting to introduce myself to different music. Suggestions are MORE than welcome!

Best Track: "Money Trees"
The greatest rap album of all time. I am not sure what I could add that hasn't already been said about this album. It is as great a journey as anyone will take while listening to an album. Being a white male from Salt Lake City, this album introduced me to a whole new world and way of thinking.

Best Track: "Mind Mischief"
I am not HUGE into psychedelic rock, but on first listen to these guys, you would think they were from a whole other era. Kevin Parker's voice is both haunting and intriguing.

I am prepared to argue that this is their best record, beating out the more recent "El Camino." This album just has something for everyone. While the whole album is pretty "accessible," it carries some very radio friendly hits in "Tighten Up," "Next Girl," and "Howling for You," all while maintaining a very bluesy approach and feel to the overall work. As the album progresses, it becomes more and more reminiscent of the "old" Black Keys as the guitar sounds more bluesy, dirty, and emotional. Along with the transition in instruments, the lyrics also become more contemplative in songs like "Unknown Brother" and "I'm Not the One." Brothers is an album I always feel comfortable playing and it has played an important role in getting me through some difficult days.

This album lived in my car as I went to community college to work on my Associates. I would take breaks in my car between classes and during lunch and so listening to this album always reminds me of fond memories from my time at the college. It is also an album that started to peak my interest in more bluesy sounding rock.

This LP was certainly not as memorable for me as "Funeral" was. While it definitely held my interest though out, something about it just seemed too lengthy. It provides 16 tracks and is still a great listen!

A very "sexy" album with a mysteriously large number of singles who's titles are questions...

This has been living in my cd changer in my car. It is solid, I love the sound and almost every song could pass as a single.
I love the almost "groovyness" to "My Number" and the build up, release, and sound to "Inhaler." Two of my favorite tracks this year thus far.

Best Track: "Loose Change" and "Out of the Black"
These guys are single handedly saving rock and roll. This is the album you blare as you are traveling on the highway. There is enough variety on this album to make it an easy listen, but you are sure to be jamming out to it all the way though.

Much like "Brothers," Blunderbuss was played quite often while at the CC. This was played my second to last semester whereas "Brothers" was first semester. I remember studying for World Religions and Physics exams while hitting my pencil up against my books to the tunes streaming from my car speakers. This album always brings back those memories and probably always will.

On top of the sentimental value I have in this album, I really like Jack White and he really shows just how diverse he is. One track he rocking out on his guitar, then the next he seems to be behind an old fashioned piano, banging out a song in a bar. The diversity of this album gets to me and I can't wait to see what sorts of direction he will take from it in his work to come.

Best Track: "Emily" and "In the Woods"
My chart has been pretty predictable, but this is one that many will probably not be familiar with. This is an album that is very diverse, every track is very different from the other, but there is an underlying story running through out the album. Definitely worth a listen!

Nice start to your chart. I would recommend something like Forever Changes, that's a pretty decent classic, but assuming you may have already heard that...

Try either 'Up The Bracket' by The Libertines or 'The Libertines'. Both class albums.

Anyway, keep it going.
