This record is the elephant in the music fans' room. Even though it became kinda prohibitted to say the things that comes to the minds of a great deal of people when listenning to Trout with the risk of passing as lowbrow -- which is a fair judgement, i would say --, it remains out most '60 nostalgia chats. Sheepishly accepted in the hall of fame of music critics for its unquestionable influence on the next generations of alt-rockers, this peace-shattering nonsensical one-and-a-half-hour piece of flashy and ofen humourous experimentation is much more than its reputation of originating some of the most filthy, disturbed and bold tentencies in 70s and 80s music -- the best ones, indeed. The truth is that listeners seeking in the '60s legacy something a little more displacing and audacious than the average easy-listening dad-rock sold as the pinnacle of experimantation will recognise that these funky tunes and all-over-the-place improvisations are cool as fuck. Even though their debut gifted us with priceless pearls like 'Minha Menina' and 'Panis et Circenses', their Brazilian psychedelia still needed the coherence that they would invariably achieve on the peak of their creativity: this sophomore efford. Still crazy to the bone, they manage to create an unmistakable identity sound with the most unexpected arrangements, skipping from orchestral to rock & roll to popular Brazilian rhythms in the most natural way possible. Later, the band would get away from their tropicália origins, adopting strong prog rock influences, but that inicial magic of the crazy blonde and the lunatic brothers is entirely immortalized here. This is probably the most iconic album ever. When thinking about "The Beatles" surely one of the first images that come to mind are the four englishmen carelessly crossing this little street. 'Here Comes the Sun', 'Come Together' and 'Oh, Darling!' are indisputable classics and the experimentation of 'Because' and the b-side medley was unmatched at that time. If hurried E.T.s came to Earth and we had to explain to them what rock & roll is with a single album, the choice would be pretty much universal: Abbey Road is the purest and yet most encompassing definition.
