A mammoth of an album that surrounds you with Brian Wilson's orchestra of young love and coming of age

The tracks by themselves are outstanding, but nothing will ever quite match the awe of listening to the medley (You Never Give Me Your Money all the way to Her Majesty) for the first time

While I sometimes find In Utero to be my favorite, I cannot deny the fact that this album is fantastic. When I fist heard this record I didn't appreciate it, it took at least 4 attempts before I got all the way through it, and afterwards I fell in love with it. It still took me awhile to get into his screaming, like on Territorial Pissings, and would fing myself skipping them, but as time passed they grew on me, most of their louder tracks became my favorites later on. For that reason this album is extremely important to me and has encouraged me to explore (before,I was the kinda guy who would only listen to about 4 bands, and mostly The Beatles anyway).

This was a band I was lucky enough to have been exposed to at an extremely young age, but never had really "understood" up until recently. This album is a wild animal in my stereo.

Frank Black may be one of the best songwriters to come out of 80s alt-rock, and Joey, Kim, and Dave are the perfect musicians to paint his sinister picture with. It almost feels like they are in sync on a whole other other-worldly level.

This album is sonic perfection, it's as if every bit of sound was planned out and produced masterfully. And my, oh my those lyrics and that voice, just perfect.

This band and Lou Reed have opened my mind in a very special way with albums like this (I also love White Light White Heat, but VU&N never grabbed me the same way as the others). The songs are beautiful and haunting in that Velvet way
