Top 100 Music Albums of the 2010s by mrmcrook

It was while compiling all my decade charts that I realized I had sweet fuck all albums from 2010 onward. So this is only showing albums I have. Those near the bottom of the chart are really not worthy of being within a top 100 list but until I have more to displace them, they can have their time in the sun

96.00* Big fan of QOTSA. Heard this once when it first came out and thought it sounded good. At the megastore which sells CD's, 6 months after they're released you can get the newer releases for about half price. Being a cheap cunt I thought I'd wait. Sold out never to be restocked. Took years of looking before I finally found a copy. And it sounded better than I remembered. Hallelujah. 10/10. An album of this caliber is few and far between. Every song a masterpiece in it's own right. The rock, the crooning, the melodies. One of the best albums ever made. [First added to this chart: 09/25/2020]

82.22 Monster Magnet deserve more recognition than they get. They are the ultimate desert metal groove merchants. They're very consistent with the caliber of albums they put out and this one doesn't disappoint. They stick to a formula that works and don't deviate off the beaten path. You'd think could make them sound stale, but it doesn't at all. Long live the Magnet. 01/24 [First added to this chart: 09/25/2020]

80.45* No musical over complications. Closest thing they've done to a classic/stoner/groove metal sound. Even verging on a mild doom vibe at times. My favorite Mastodon album. Was also the first of their's I got. Prefer it over their earlier one's. 03/24 [First added to this chart: 09/25/2020]

80.00* The right mix of different styles and tempo's to give it enough variety to keep it solid from start to finish. Consistent. No weak tracks. One of the better Foo albums. [First added to this chart: 01/20/2022]

79.44 Was very excited when this was coming out as great QOTSA fan. Took a bit to grow on me as I found it one of the weaker albums in the QOTSA canon. But on saying that, it's still a really good album, way better than most put out by other bands and albums within the genre and era. 02/23 [First added to this chart: 09/25/2020]

Really good Metal is hard to find these days. Not that often I seem to come across it. Very happy with this. This is definitely the best I've heard from them. Decent pure Metal. You can hear the channeling of Metallica throughout. Very good. Very happy. [First added to this chart: 05/02/2025]

77.81* Interesting one this. I've had a change of heart. I used to think there was something lacking. I've listened to this many, many times trying to find what I must be missing. I've found there's nothing missing. The mind constantly evolves over time with music. Decent album. Sorry I doubted you. 06/25 [First added to this chart: 09/25/2020]

At first I thought this was gonna be just another stock standard metal album. But the subtle differences in the tracks actually give them really good variance. Way better than expected and is growing on me nicely. [First added to this chart: 05/13/2023]

76.00 I think this gets a slightly bad rap. It sounds like it should. The heavy riffs & rhythms of Metallica over the junkie (ex-junkie) poetry lyrics of Lou Reed. The tracks which go on the avant-garde jazz rock tangent are the ones that let the album down. But overall it's not a bad collaboration. The second CD of it (last 4 tracks) being the better by far. Two sisters from Georgia. Mainly a blues rock band. Variety of guitar sound with electric, steel slide, acoustic, banjo's & baritone guitars. Gives it a good mix of styles with bluegrass, swampy blues and some decent rock. And there's a subtle underlying darkness with it all as well. I really like this. One of those that exceeds what you expected. [First added to this chart: 12/26/2024]
