What can be said about Funeral that hasn't already been said? It will always be the album that introduced me to indie rock. Even though Arcade Fire only released two albums during the decade, both of them are the peak of indie rock in the 2000s. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

Another indie classic, Yankee Foxtrot Hotel is everything you could ask for in an album. Great music, great lyrics, and innovation that still stands tall 10 years later. It's odd to think that an album this good is already a decade old, but it has aged tremendously well. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

One of the best debut albums of the decade, I will never forget hearing this album for the first time and being completely amazed with how unique the Strokes sound was. It was so simple, yet so complex at the same time. Eleven years later, it is still hard to find an album released during the 21st century that meets the standards of "Is This It". Many critics and consumers alive have claimed that this is the greatest album of the decade. The album had the impossible task of following "OK Computer," one of the greatest albums in music history. While Kid A obviously does not succeed it's predecessor, it is still a brilliant album. From the danceable classic Idioteque, (which I would easily consider the greatest song of the decade, but that's a whole other story) to the Jazz filled "National Anthem," Kid A is a pleasure to listen to from beginning to end. Where do I even begin with this one? This album is without a doubt the best guitar based album of the decade. Hell, it's one of the greatest guitar based albums of all time. The album became the fastest selling debut album in UK history upon release, and for good reason. WPSIATWIN is simply infectious. 6 years later, I still find myself humming songs like "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" and "Still Take You Home" everywhere I go. "Up The Bracket" is definitely one of the most underrated albums of the decade. Just like the Strokes, the Libertines assured us that this decade would not be dominated by poppish boybands like the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. Instead, they showed us that raw and untamed albums like Up The Bracket would soon be on the horizon. We only got one more record from the Libertines before they imploded, but both albums will go down as some of the greatest rock records of the decade. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

Yes, that's right, another debut album. The 2000s saw the emergence of numerous fantastic bands. And what great timing after so many legendary bands broke up in the 90s. Speaking of great debut albums, how can one forget Fleet Foxes eponymous folk rock classic. Fleet Foxes is a beautiful folk rock album. The kind that one should play in its entirety while sitting around a camp fire. If you haven't heard this one yet, your missing out on one of the best albums in the past 5 years. There's one word to describe Muse: dramatic. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Muse has released a number of great albums, but this will always go down as there magnum opus. Each track is song with such passion, that you can't help, but feel Matthew Bellamy's pain. The end of the world has never sounded so good. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

During the 2000s, no artist rocked harder than the White Stripes. While their biggest album will always be "Elephant," the band truly peaked in 2001 when they dropped "White Blood Cells." It's still mind blowing to think that they're are just two people playing on this album. This is when the White Stripe's sound finally came together to create one that sounded like a full band. Not since Alanis Morriesette's Jagged Little Pill (more of the awesomeness of that album in my best of the 90s chart) has a female artist mastered both rocking out and being sentimental so well on one album. If you're looking for the best album by a female artist this decade, then look no further than this masterpiece. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]
