Top 100 Music Albums of the 1980s by Error Finn

Conceptual Extension - Part 4, 1980s: "The New Union Law"

I am the 1980's young. This decade "taught" me the barometer to measure the good music. At first in the 1980s, it was more important to me to find a day hits, as the so-called "serious music".When listening to music, mainly just a blockbusters, you may feel that, you're at the top of affairs! When the young get older, he/she begins to hate the things that was not so long ago - loved.
My personal love-hate relationship with the music of the 1980s, appears in this list, even too much. Albums and bands which marked before me tremendously, have lost their impact. Moreover, I have no interest in "1980s music genres". In addition, many great bands (which I have favored the 1970s on my list) did in the 1980s - boring albums. The 1980s, commercial music (= terrible sounds of bands albums), which gave birth to poor artists, got me interested in the music more deeply. These things result, I chose only 50 albums (May 2013 - 75 albums)
But, when I'm BEA's member, I have come to this site only because of good music, I promise that My lists albums are a wide range of the elect.
> Ok, but this next lyric - is the best of the decade:

"Your time has come, your second skin.
You climb so high and gain so low.
Walk through the valley.
The written word is a lie...
:
I could be wrong. I could be right.
I could be wrong. I could be right."

The setting of Kate Bush, 1980's top of the charts is not a bad choice. And in the case of her strongest album, Hound of Love. Bush's albums are expected to always be with great enthusiasm. I remember that it was also in the autumn of 1985 (also in Radio Luxembourg), while the radio journalists began to play album, the best-known tracks such as "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" and "Cloudbusting".Despite these hits, the album is surprisingly content: Memorable melodies and arrangements, with orchestrated progressive pop, and high-wattage traditional folk. Also,Hounds of Love is actually a two-part album;consisting of the suites "Hounds of Love" and "The Ninth Wave." The former is steeped in lyrical and sonic sensuality that tends to wash over the listener, while the latter is about the experiences of birth and rebirth. When you listen to this album, it may be that - you'll be born again! [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

I was in the military service in 1989. Then army friend told that he had bought The Cure's latest album. When I was in the army, I was too lazy to take an interest in acquiring new music (and the military-day money - who would use it to The Cure!).Robert Smith's hair is worse the army to go ... but I bought the vinyl of this fine, and the band's best album, in 2007 (from a German retailer).

In early 1981 Robert Fripp and Bill Bruford began consideration of a new band, whose name would be a Discipline. The two search for a bass player for some time without success. Around the same time Fripp contacted guitarist Adrian Belew, who was then the Talking Heads on tour with the band. Previously, Belew had been playing, including Frank Zappa and David Bowie's ensembles. The current King Crimson's music recalled the so-called new wave music. This is probably the result of Belew'' s working with Talking Heads on. This band is often characterized as the originator of this musical trend. Fripp's intent was to create a sound that could be described as rock-gamelan. A special feature would be between the two guitar poly rhythmic dialogue. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]

My highly appreciate member of the BEA - paladisiac - on Wednesday 11th January 2012:
- "You wouldn't know how deeply engaging this album is by hits "sledgehammer" and "big time". Fellow radio hit "in your eyes" does more to underscore peter's mastery of world music informing his own. Or check out "this is the picture" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueOqnyBSwwI to see how far he's come as a solo artist. This is his best album since "the lamb". - A very interesting album, with the musicians point of view. One of them was Bill Laswell - bass on "In Your Eyes"..an this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66MJ-KOFBFQ

Pet Shop Boys seem to be many (BEA members?) band, which were listened primary school disco, and then discovered more than ten years later, and dared to say: "PSB were really great!" I remember when one of the high school class friends, stopped PSB's listening when he heard about that they were gay! Fortunately, times have changed and the PSB's music is the best, pure (with serious face) of the 1980s pop. And it was this album, "Actually," which made them respected."What Have I Done to Deserve This?" is and absolute classic PSB and dance tune (featuring Dusty Springfield);"It could not happen here" and "King"s Cross", two hard-striking, dark, haunting, heart-piercing ballads; and catchy tunes of "Rent" and "Heart" sticks to your mind for long time. Someone once (just-in-cheek language) was assessed at what would sound like, the 1980s pop music, if Talk Talk would have been as popular as, Duran Duran. We BEA's members know that the TT is not DD. Why TT should have been as popular as the DD? Luckily, didn't become so well known, because often the huge popularity, the relates to the content of the music..I think TT was known to only a few in the spring of 1986 when "The Colour Of Spings" was released. At least in Finland, the critics (newspapers and radio) in favor of this album. They hoped for a higher visibility in the media. And at the same time, they cursed DD's boost in the media ...Album was already familiar to me as soon as the publication year. But the beauty of it (= humanity) later."Happiness Is Easy" through the musical world, which reflects the futuristic 1980's finest. On the disc is literally a couple of great pop song "Life's What You Make It", and "Living In Another World", but also jazz, folk and prog rock inspired performances.+S.Winwood! "Closer" is notable at first for its eligiac cover, a black and white image of figures praying at a tombsite. Is this a coincidence (compare Nirvana)? What about these lyrics from a song called "Isolation"? "Mother I tried please believe me,
I'm doing the best that I can.
I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through,
I'm ashamed of the person I am." and "The Eternal" with its portrayal of a funereal procession...From the album is increased use of synthesizers, and the album is darker in tone than its predecessor. Even today it is considered one of the post-punk and gothic rock milestones.

"Synchronicity", was the album from which I learned the barometer, what it has to be, which makes it a classic. Album must have the correct order by track, it creates a unique dramaturgy for album. Album must have turns, as well as on the film. Album's turns are the hooks. The album must have famous hits ("Every Breath You Take" = Sting's song making ability), identifiable playing (Stewart Copeland on drums), rock power (Synchronicity II), sensual ballads ("Wrapped Around Your Finger", "Tea in the Sahara"), a mystic lyrics ("King of Pain"), indication of avantgarde ("Mother") and in particular the producer's vision (Hugh Padgham). "Talk is Cheap" is better than any of the Rolling Stones album - throughout the decade. The album doesn't have any of Jagger-Richard composition, but all are from the pair, Richard - Steve Jordan,(who has completely different drum groove as Charlie Watts).Songs like "Take It So Hard" "Whip It Up," and "Struggle" are classic Richards riffology. Album's make an interesting, a number of major musicians visit: Bernie Worrell, Joey Spampinato, Sarah Dash, Bobby Keys, Patti Scialfa, Mick Taylor (ex-Stones), Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker, Johnnie Johnson, Chuck Leavell, Memphis Horns, and Michael Doucet. After listening to "Talk Is Cheap", find out who was the musical director of the Rolling Stones. [First added to this chart: 06/14/2012]
