Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Thanks RepoMan. There's many more synopses to come. I got in a groove, and felt them coming naturally. Of course, I've lived with these albums very closely for the past couple decades, so it's not hard to really feel the connection necessary.
Mercury, it's tough for any albums to make my charts, so I consider Things Fall Apart and Liquid Swords very celebrated here even when listed towards the bottom. They made the top 100 out of probably 1500-2500 albums I've heard from the decade. I feel like there's a good 50 or more albums I connect with every year, so I always feel like I'm snubbed an album on the decade and overall charts.

I was just about to say "you really aren't too in to hip hop are you" and then I got to the final page and saw The Roots and GZA (my favorite nineties album faaaaaaar too low here :)
Anyway, I really fucking love this chart so much. The metaphors and comments are real nice, although sometimes they go over my head.
Anyway, yeah I love it. Tom Waits is a us always.

13 by Blur… what an album! I bought it when it came out… I was 14 and didn't know what was doing. Thank god for the instinct.
It's not really a 90s album... it's more a turn of the century record.
