Top 100 Music Albums of the 2000s by RoundTheBend

I have no idea if I agree with this... but it's in the ball park. hahaha.

Find it funny that some artists I have ranked right next to each other with efforts I thought were completely different (Foo Fighters and RHCP are ranked next to each other, for example)... yet according to this "mathematical" method, it actually makes sense.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 83.5/100, a mean average of 82.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 11.6.

@RoundTheBend umm ... what? It's bizarre to try and insult me by calling my own chart "basically the BEA soundtrack to the 2000s", since not only are you in effect putting yourself at odds with the entire BEA community by suggesting their taste is bad, but also a quick fact check shows that your 2000s chart is mathematically far similar to the BEA standard than mine: So what are you trying to say here?

I'd just suggested that you check out some genres other than alt-rock since I thought you might be missing out on some more great music. Sorry if I offended you xx

Yeah - disclaimer - this is what I love and I don't love hip-hop or electronic music. I like it, but I don't love it. So, no, I'm not trying to have a representative/historically accurate/pitchfork approved list here. Sorry folks, those already exist.

Nice to see some slightly more out there picks with Joanna Newsom and Godspeed You! Black Emperor sneaking in at the end, and though there are some great albums here I still think this chart is far too alternative rock orientated for me. Would be nice to see some hip hop/electronic releases appear in a decade where both those genres underwent drastic changes!!

This is really good. There are a ton of artists I like, such as R.E.M. RHCP, Muse, Radiohead and White Stripes. But I like the fact that you include the Black Eyed Peas and Justin Timberlake too. Refreshing. Very good 00's chart. And we have 29 in common.

The only small problem I have with this chart is that a couple of times 2 albums by the same artist are ranked next to each other. Other than that, the pure quality of your choices is undeniable.

Nice work on the decade. 44 in common with my chart! You're brave, putting 3 Black Eyed Peas albums on your chart - they're not a favourite of the users here!

The problem that I have with the 00's is that it's not one of my fav decades but I think that you have do a decent job with this decade. I guess I'm just an old F**k who harks back to my youth.
