Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

Songs are rated separately, semi-randomly, and placed into numerical tiers (from 0.5 to 5.0, at 0.25 intervals). Song ratings determine an album rating, which includes length of tracks as a variable.
The rating system is curved based on a golden ratio distribution, and forced-fit to eliminate any skew.
Important to note that songs are scored based solely on the pure sonic utility- that is, 100% subjective. I also tend to ignore lyrics, unless they are noticeably good or noticeably bad.

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Nice to see Murmur so high, love that album, Radio Free Europe is one of the best songs ever. I have listened to all of Radiohead's discog but I don't really enjoy any of the albums except Moon Shaped Pool.

Who's gonna argue against a "curved based on a golden ratio distribution, and forced-fit to eliminate any skew" system? In any event, we have 15 albums in common which isn't too bad given I'm not super keen on Weezer or Radiohead. Great to see Elliott Smith & the Go Betweens hit/fit the curve. Enjoyed checking out your comment & chart.

Nice chart. Not much post-90s but everything here from 60s-90s is great. Interestingly not much for me to discover here, only a handful of albums I haven't listened to and they're all by familiar artists. That said, what's here is quality. Nice work!

I love Blue Album.... your chart just seems like you like mostly generic music which I find kind of dull.. to each their own but for now its a 75. Maybe I'll lighten up later lol.
