Top 100 Greatest Music Albums
by Kaiser

I'm not very generous with my reviews and my tastes aren't too generalized here so I don't expect a high score. My only worry is to receive good advices and recommendations to expand my musical spectrum.

Work in progress... I will try to comment every pick.

I don't know how sounds the music in the Paradise but, if it exists, it would be something similar to David Gilmour's guitar on this álbum. "Shine on you crazy diamond" is the best ever song to my ears so... that's easy. Stunning lyrics.

If Neil Armstrong had known of this álbum, he probably would have waited five more years to travel to the moon and can listen to it during the trip. This is an album that grabs you in its surround sound and does not let go until it ends. That's how the future sounds.

"Journey" is an unique experience through the life, from our birth to the death and beyond in a devastated sandy world by an ancient war for the natural sources. Is difficult to feel "Journey", the game, without his music in the same way that is hard to explain this score by itself so... go to play and live it!

We currently live in a society where we are more aware of others than ourselves, we just appreciate what we don't own. Are we really as we want? Or do we want to be who we are not? In this moment I would like to be Mariusz Duda.

Who says virtuosism and melodism should be faced? New Yorkers Dream Theater showed otherwise in this energic recording. An álbum that hundreds of subsequent metal bands have tried to rip off and none of them has succeeded. Every song is near to the same marvellous level.

This is a long crossing throughout the cold, the ice, the survival. Nothing around but you must to arrive. The path is increasingly more and more tough but the reward deserves this effort. You're faced to the most epic but elegant black metal production so, why not try? A clear pick in the top 100.

Forget everything you've heard about electronic, this in not for dance, leap or shake your body compulsively, this is only to take place and thinking. An introspective walk into a parallel world. "In Sides" takes Kraftwerk standards and leads it to the next level in the genre. "The Box" is impossible to describe with words, best synthesizers piece ever made.

Hello, can you feel it? This is the womb and during the next nine months - or seventy two minutes - your livelihood will be at dark, in this small bag, the placenta, and you will get feed and oxigene through this duct, the umbilical cord.
Probably the most beautiful album ever made. You don't even have self-awareness, but it has been an ágætis byrjun!

♥♥♥ Blackwater Park / ♥♥ The Drapery Falls / ♥ Bleak
After some solid works, Mikael Akerfeldt's boys reach the perfection in this rollercoaster of rythms among wrecking growls and smooth melodies that makes of "Blackwater Park" an intense walk over the mud from start to finish -including "Still Day Beneath The Sun" and "Patterns In The Ivy II, the two fantastic bonus tracks-. Nothing of this would have been possible without the collaboration of Steven Wilson as producer.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.6/100, a mean average of 83.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 15.1.

So much progressive rock! Love this chart! It's awesome how highly you rate Mirage by Camel because it's brilliant. Nice seeing a bunch of Riverside!

You seem to explore the outer corners of rock. Here and there an electronic album, which is funny, but they’re not my favorites. Maybe you would like some trip hop albums, if you’re into ‘90s electronic music.
Don’t know much about metal, but Jane’s Addiction is probably my favorite. It’s progressive metal to be precise.
