Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by
dfulfo01
I've only been listening to music for the past few years so my list is made up of very recent albums.
Artists make music for the time they're in and the things are experiencing now, not people who will be around in 50 years. And yes music is timeless, but i feel more of a connection with the artists in my generation making music for my time. Hope you find something new you enjoy.
*currently going through the 70s, 80s and 90s. Found some good stuff. The most incredible albums i've listened to so far are starting to creep onto my chart. If you have any suggestions hit up the comment section. peace.

Bradford Cox is a very strange man, yet (consequently?) he continues to create some of the most incredible music of this generation. Halcyon Digest is the pinnacle of the beautifully complex, inexplicably understated, Deerhunter catalogue. Bradford Cox will always be the centre of praise, but if it weren't for the rest of the Deerhunter crew, he could never be this good. [First added to this chart: 09/12/2011]
This album is a place that rely's heavily on you. It invites you in and says "you are free, now feel". It never forces you to feel a certain way. It never takes it's own issues and expects you to somehow relate. The lyrics are strangely specific but seemingly unrelated and can be completely nonsensical if you try to interpret them on their own. Bon Iver intentionally leaves room for you to make the connections and understand the story from your own experience, dreams, and failures. Don't pick it apart, don't analyze the musical influences or any of that crap. If you're bored listening to this album it's because you're doing it wrong. This album is mine, because this album is me. [First added to this chart: 06/17/2011]
Teen Dream is flawless from start to finish. The way the album is structured carries you through on a cloud, meshing everything together with accents in all the right places. Some people I've talked to think this makes the album uninteresting; I strongly disagree. I feel that it brings everything together and makes the listening experience even more enjoyable as a whole. To be honest, I don't know what it is about Beach House that is so unique and satisfying, but whatever it is they perfected it here. In addition, Take Care is one hell of a closing track. The best word I can use to describe Lonersim is 'groovy'. The way the bass plays off the drums prevents you from even thinking about staying still, and all this is driven by powerful guitars, pulled together under a blanket of synthy-psychedelic atmosphere. There isn't an 'average' song on the entire album. I never expected this caliber of album after Innerspeaker. I listened to Lonerism on repeat in my car for longer then I have with any other album to date. Seriously, it was like 7 months almost non-stop. [First added to this chart: 12/10/2012]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.8/100, a mean average of 86.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.6.

Some good stuff, although it is heavily biased towards modern times. I get what you're talking about with relating more to modern artists, but still. I'd make the argument that most music isn't personal enough to depply relate to anyway, regardless of when it was made. Also, there's lots of great music out there regardless of lyrical content.
Anyway, love to see Age of Adz get recognition! It deserves it.
Recs:
Radiohead: Kid A; OK Computer; A Moon Shaped Pool
The Velvet Underground: White Light/White Heat
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: Push the Sky Away; Skeleton Tree
Slowdive: Souvlaki
good chart

I enjoy this chart! Lots of newer stuff here, which is fine with me. I like the inclusion of Funeral and Fleet Foxes.
I've got slot of new stuff to listen to now thanks mate

Good taste and I'm interested to see how your picks change

Nice chart, It's very similar to mine, a lot of new music and a couple choice albums from previous decades. We even have some of the same older ones (self-titled albums from The VU and The Femmes are both so good)
You seem to know a lot of the new Music, so I'll suggest a couple older ones. Disintegration by The Cure, and The Queen is Dead by The Smiths are two of my favorites, give em a try.
Also, I recently bought Lonerism and Halcyon Digest which were two of your favorites, and I love them both. They will probably find a place on my chart shortly.

Great chart!
love this!!!

No Monominia from such big fan of Deerhunter/Atlas Sound :/
I agree that Old is not a hip hop masterpiece but for a 19 tracks album he maintained a constant quality track after track, that's what impressed me about it.

Good chart too 2000s songs nice
