Top 40 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.4/100, a mean average of 89.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.2.

Great chart ! Have you listened to any other Medicine albums ? My favorite of theirs is "Shot Forth Self Living" (though "Buried Life" is also great). Last years album was pretty unexpected. Nice pick !
As for recs, you should check my post-punk and shoegaze charts. They seem like genres you would enjoy exploring.

Love the great alternative picks (as well as the high number of hip hop records), though I wouldn't agree that this current (unfinished) decade is by far and away the strongest so far, as this chart would suggest

this is very good, and I don't know why, it feels satisfying maybe it's because of the lyrics in the notes....in reality IDK why...I prefer to not know

Kickass chart, although I feel it relies too heavily on postpunk and noise rock and leaves other equally important genres behind, particularly folk, blues and jazz.

@arialblue as a student in the UK it'd be practically impossible to not love that album. I've had far too many good times while listening to it - pun intended.
@sidneyfranklin tbh I would agree that this chart is too heavily weighted to stuff from the last decade or too but it's based partly just on what I love rn, which is a lot of more recent releases, rather than necessarily the best of all time. (which maybe goes against the point of this website but oh well). also, if you have any reccs of older music, I'd love to hear them.
@antaiospiano i'm sure you won't regret that. he's probably the greatest producer of all time.
