This was the second Kanye album that I ever heard. I was a part of the population that hated him without giving his music a shot, once I did I was hooked. Every beat of this album pops in my head and blows my mind. How does a person create something like this?

This album should be considered the greatest christian album ever written. It makes a person want to worship more than most Christian artists.

I remember hearing a friend talk about the concept of this album and checked it out. Everything was perfect. The lyrics were piercing and the instrumentation was unlike anything I had ever heard.

This is probably a weird choice as my first Bob Dylan pick. However, it was the first album I heard by him. I was hooked by the grunge sound of his voice, but more important, the words behind it. Daniel Lanois contributed immensely to the overall sound of this album

As important today as it was the day that it was first released. I am moved from the first word to the last. I can't turn this off half way through.

The Boxer is probably a better album, but i always go to high violet first when listening to the national. Its heartbreaking and emotional. Its deep and almost sexy.

Is it to early to include this album on a greatest ever list? I don't care. It is beautiful and moving. An album that doesn't care about airplay, but about informing a generation about pain and hardship.

This is the album I am listening to while making this list. Its their best. I find it hard to pick between this and The White album or Abbey Road. All three are equal to me.
