The peak of psychedelic rock music. It has never sounded this creative, this progressive or this sublime. From the blues on the rocky track "Money" to the transcendental sound on the slow ballad "Us And Them" and the trippy instrumental experimentation on "Any Colour You Like" this album is rich and diverse in it's sound [First added to this chart: 05/20/2023]

Comments:
The sum of all the frustrations and pain that was building up inside the gradually more and more suicidal Kurt Cobain, is expressed on "In Utero", with the howling "Rape Me" as the most disturbed and eerie example. Rarely has a tracks more full of desperation and self-loathing ever been made, and to this day is stands as one of the most eerie examples of how far out ones personal battle with the self, can develope.
The album makes as much distance to the top selling "Nevermind", having close to no tracks fit for radio airplay, and a significantly more raw production. Heavy tracks like "Milk It", "Scentless Apprentice" and "Tourette's" are heavy, raw, angry and have Kurt screaming, almost growling his frustrations out. All great tracks who with their anger and rawness marks and "unfit" radioplay-feel marks how "In Utero" is different from "Nevermind".

The ballad "Pennyroyal Tea", sour in it's sound, is another great exaple of the sound on "In Utero" while "Dumb", album opener "Serve The Servant" and "All Apologies" are apart of the albums more easy listening section, creating a refreshing variation in the sound.

Comments:
The desperation is destructive, the rage is furious, the desire is disturbed, the identity crisis is suicidal and full of self-loathing. And it the desperate words of Trent Reznor can't do it alone, the electronic pulses of the industrial rage music sure as hell can, as it intensifies the words and sentences with raging sonic pulses and furious screams from Trent [First added to this chart: 05/20/2023]

Great list. Very diverse in the genres. Good to see some Type O Negative, Monster Magnet & Danzig in there
