A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. There are 20 albums in common with my chart and I own 90 of them, so you've chosen some great albums. If this was a '100 Greatest Albums by White Rock and Indie Bands'I would have marked it 95, however 15 points are deducted for a lack of diversity.
